Victoria’s drought
The state depends on Victoria’s regions for food and fibre products that underwrite the state’s economy, that’s why direct relief to Victoria’s farmers continues to be an RCV priority.
Our agriculture sector is the backbone of our economy, and the lifeblood of rural and regional towns.
Right now, Victoria’s primary producers need all the support they can get – even with recent rains there is a long road to recovery ahead for our farmers and the economies that rely on them.
RCV is committed to working with governments, on behalf of regional and rural Victorians, to ensure we secure the right investment to safeguard our primary producers, support their recovery and sustain local economies.
ASK: The State Government expand acute drought support to areas of need including south and west areas of Horsham Rural City Council. The Federal Government expand Commonwealth drought support, and enacts an immediate and indefinite pause on the water buyback scheme while Victoria is in drought.
